In October 2007, commUNITY cares received supplemental funds from SAMHSA to address two objectives:

1. to obtain better awareness on the part of commUNITY cares regarding mental health issues faced by the Hispanic community, with a focus on mental healthcare across life domains; and
2. to assess the community’s current resources through a community screening tool and to map out additional resources needed to provide adequate services to the Hispanic community.

This supplemental project will allow commUNITY cares to better prepare themselves for providing services to an underserved segment of the local population.
